This session uses prototypes and objects to reflect on the value of personal data (and other forms of data), the evolving nature of transactions, and the future significance for material and physical currencies in a digital world. The theme of value and currency is open and not just about monetary exchange but is also looking at cultural value and exchange. We develop this open perspective by investigating the notion that data is a creator and carrier of value, and that visualizing or making manifest the relationships that personal data may have is a way of investigating value, and proposing alternatives to existing valuations.
Facilitated by Irini Papadimitriou and Alison Powell.
This event is part of Mozilla Festival 2014, which is being held from October 24th – 26th 2014.
