Leading lights of immersive cinematic entertainment form stellar roster for world’s first specialist conference in London this May.

The Live Cinema Conference brings together leading artists, practitioners, producers, commissioners, exhibitors and academics to explore the burgeoning category of Live Cinema. Experts at the forefront of the trend toward boundary breaking augmented cinema experiences will lead a day of workshops designed to foster new collaborations, empower those wishing to move into the market and give an overview of the enormous breadth of creativity at work within Live Cinema. This will be followed by a groundbreaking one-off triple collaboration evening event, which combines underground favourite Edible Cinema with the blockbuster NT Live programme and live action from theatre company Omnibus.

The Conference defines Live Cinema as any screening augmented by synchronous live performance, site-specific locations, technological intervention, social media engagement and all manner of simultaneous interactive moments including singing, dancing, eating, drinking and smelling.

Speakers at the conference will be drawn from across the Industry, allowing unprecedented access to stakeholders from every stage of the development and delivery of a Live Cinema event.

Specialist Sessions:
As part of the programme, delegates will be able to attend one of the following specialist sessions:

  • Funding ideas lab: Current & forthcoming funding opportunities.
  • IP & Licensing masterclass: How to address specific Live Cinema IP challenges.
  • Audience Development & Marketing Masterclass: Marketing, communications and branding alongside tactics & techniques for audience development & engagement.
  • Training, Development & Education Workshop: How to identify and develop education, skills & training for the emergent field of Live Cinema.

Evening event: Hangmen Re-hanged
A screening of hit West-end play The Hangmen (originally streamed live to cinemas on the last night of it’s sold out run by NT Live), augmented with live performance from Omnibus in playful ‘re-play’ of the play and accompanied by a timed menu (of 8 canape sized bites and drinks) from Edible Cinema in partnership with Bombay Sapphire. For the first time, ‘event’ cinema, ‘live’ cinema and promenade theatre will be united in a hybrid, multi-layered, immersive and sensory experience which promises to delight, surprise and enthrall the audience.
