SoundLab Play Space: Digital music making technology is changing the rules – now everyone can play.
If you want to find out first-hand how the latest digital technology is reshaping how we can all make music together then you will want to come and have a play at the SoundLab Play Space.
The day is being curated by SoundLab, a Digital R&D for the Arts project that has been delivered in partnership by award-winning creative arts organisation Heart n Soul, Goldsmiths University and Public Domain Corp. Our aim was to discover which digital music technologies and approaches could help people with learning disabilities create the music and sounds they want to make. Now we want to share what we discovered.
SoundLab and Nesta have come together to create a new event for you that will enable you to get your hands on cutting edge technology and talk to the experts who created them. We will have a space where you can experiment with a bunch of fantastic music making apps and take some home with you for free. You’ll be able to play in a digital pop-up band, hear performances and get involved in the big debate about how we can make our musical tools even more accessible and creative.
This event is designed to bring lots of different people together to get a whole new perspective on the future of music making. We want to mix it up and have a new conversation, so expect to be rubbing shoulders with enthusiastic technologists, artists, musicians, teachers, health experts and policy makers.
There will be two sessions at the event (4-6PM & and 6-8PM), do choose which session time you would like to attend.
