Peggy Shaw’s RUFFApril 14, 2016 - April 16, 2016$16Barbican, Silk Street Theatre, Performance artist Peggy Shaw ruminates on life before and after the stroke she had in 2011, delivering a freewheeling monologue with deadpan humour and arresting honesty. Supported by video monitors, a green screen and her virtual back-up band, Shaw talks, croons and imitates her way through anecdotes and stories, in a manner ‘admirably unsentimental and often very funny indeed’ (New York Times). RUFF constitutes a central component of a larger body of creative and public engagement work by Split Britches (Shaw and Lois Weaver), exploring ageing and wellbeing in the arts and as artists. Thursday 14th will include a post-show Q&A with a health professional, contributing to this ongoing conversation. Click here for more information and to book yourself a place. |
