NESTA: Launch of the Innovation Growth Lab (IGL)
October 23, 2014 12:00 pm
October 23, 2014 2:00 pm
Free, booking required
October 8, 2014
1 Plough Pl , London, EC4A 1DE, United Kingdom

Join Nesta for the launch of a new global lab that will test novel approaches to support innovation and economic growth.

IGL brings together an international network of researchers and public and private organisations supporting innovation and growth.

Together, we aim to build the evidence base on the most effective approaches to accelerate innovation, high-growth entrepreneurship and business growth, using randomised controlled trials (RCTs) to find out what works and what doesn’t.

During the launch, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Find out about the RCTs that we are supporting, tackling questions such as: what effect do incubator spaces have on startup survival rates and economic performances? How does proximity impact on collaboration and knowledge creation? Are there cheaper, more time-efficient alternatives to the traditional startup accelerator model? How can we connect SMEs with university research?
  • Interact with an expert panel on the value and challenges of experimental approaches in innovation and growth policy.
  • Ask questions on how you could use experimental approaches in your own organisations to build more effective programmes.
  • Learn about a new funding opportunity for innovation, entrepreneurship and growth RCTs, and connect on the spot with potential research and programme partners.

Places are limited and will book fast so if you wish to attend please register here at your earliest possible convenience. The event is due to end at 2pm.

IGL is an initiative led by Nesta in partnership with: The Kauffman Foundation, the Australian Department of Industry, the Danish Business Authority, Innovate UK (Technology Strategy Board), the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Netherlands, the Swedish Agency for Growth Analysis, and the UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.
