Head to Head Live: Future of Innovation Debate

This is a live debate featuring experts from a variety of backgrounds who will each present an opinion piece about the three statements below, taking either an “agree” or “disagree” stance. In some cases the speakers will be deliberately provocative, and our goal is to contribute to wider debate on the future of innovation. There will be opportunities after the debate for questions from the audience, both in the room and online.

Statement 1. “Manufacturers are only driven by commercial factors and do not care about social or environmental challenges unless they can be commercially exploited.”

Speakers include: Ian Bamford – Commercial Director, Institute for Manufacturing.

Statement 2. “People need to take responsibility for their own health, including sharing data, if we’re to avoid major societal problems and healthcare system meltdown.”

Speakers include: Martin Bontoft – Head of Design Research, Team Consulting.

Statement 3. “Circular business models will deliver a rebirth of localised manufacturing in UK cities”

Speakers include: Mat Hunter – Strategy Director, Central Research Laboratory
