July 2, 2014
British Library Business & IP Centre

Starting your own business is hard work and but not without its rewards.

It demands enthusiasm and determination to get it off the ground.

If you get it right, it will be the most rewarding thing you do!

We are running a series of structured workshops to give you the essential information you need.

Before you take the plunge, it’s important to take a step back and make an honest assessment of how prepared you are in dealing with issues surrounding tax and National Insurance, registering your business, finding premises, knowing your customers and competitors, and applying for funding.

Get the tools you need to take your idea from the drawing board to the real world. You’ll learn how to:

  • Write a good business plan
  • Source finance and manage cash flow
  • Meet your legal and tax obligations
  • Find the right banking solutions

Speaker: Lucan Richards

Business advisor at Centa

Lucan provides advice to new entrepreneurs in getting their businesses off the ground. Part of his role is to gather knowledge and information of business support schemes across London, aiming to be the first to pass these exciting opportunities to clients. Lucan is a SFEDI-qualified business adviser.

In 2003 Lucan had the opportunity to work alongside Business Angels in conducting organisational development for a number of businesses in Luton, where he gained business planning and re-development skills. In 2004 Lucan graduated with an Honours Degree in Business Administration from the University of Luton and joined Centa in 2005.

Lucan enjoys identifying and implementing business solutions, is highly motivated and possesses both managerial and negotiation skills. In his own words, Lucan remains ‘customer focused at all times’.
