Govtoday is delighted to be hosting the Digital Britain conference in celebration of the World Wide Web’s 25th birthday. Not only was the WWW a British invention, that has transformed the world, but Britain is now renowned globally as a leading light in digital services and technologies.
The UK government has totally engaged with the principle of digitising its activities and is set to be the most digital government in the G8 by 2015 and local authorities can now engage with citizens by providing access through online platforms. Britain is now the biggest e-commerce market in the world with more spent per head on or over the internet than any other nation. Funding for Internet of Things research, development of 5G and a commitment to securing the future with infrastructure are all indicative that Britain is committed to staying at the forefront.
Digital Britain – A Global Leader will showcase some of the reasons why the UK commands such an elevated position in the digital era, which areas still need attention and will speculate what the next 25 years may hold. The very latest policies, strategies, funding and developments will be discussed and debated covering a plethora of topics from infrastructure to inclusion. Examples of highly successful digital hubs will be shared providing delegates with insight as to how the industry is growing and how digital technologies can continue to enhance social and economic wellbeing.
