The Audience Agency are offering a series of free*, face to face surgeries across England, giving you access to bespoke advice and practical support.

Ideal to follow up on and help embed training, or help you with a particular issue you might be facing, our consultants will provide practical, tailored advice to help you with your audience development and marketing challenges. These surgeries can be accessed as standalone support or as additional help following on from attendance at one of our events.

Who is it for?

Ideal for Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisations, smaller or rural organisations. However, staff from all arts and cultural organisations are also welcome.

*The conditions of Lottery funding mean the surgeries are free to Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisations. They cost £50 +VAT for ACE Major Partner Museums and £90+VAT for non-National Portfolio Organisations.

Workshop or surgery?

A surgery is a great opportunity to get bespoke advice from one of our expert consultants about a specific problem or issue. You can bring along up to two members of your team, and our consultants can provide you with a fresh perspective. In 90 minutes they can help you with a wide variety of topics across marketing, audience development, digital, research, community engagement, evaluation and organisational change. For example you could get help with:

  • Implementing your learning from Essentials of… training
  • Designing an audience research questionnaire
  • Reviewing your publicity copy and images
  • Setting up social networking
  • Reviewing your audience development plans
  • Engaging local families
  • Checking your evaluation objectives
  • Convincing your director about the value of your marketing plan
  • Setting up an ambassador scheme

If you need more time to really explore and learn about a topic, such as the theory and practice of how to write an audience development plan, design and implement a research project or how to create a strategic marketing plan you may want to consider booking on to one of our Essentials of… workshops. We will not only take you through the processes step by step, but share with you case studies and examples of good practice and you’ll get the opportunity to network with your peers.

To ensure you get the most from your surgery, when you book we’ll ask you a couple of questions about your organisation, the resources you have available and the issue you’d like to discuss. The more information you can give us in advance the more time we can spend helping you to find solutions. If you’re not exactly sure what you’d like to discuss, just let us know up to a week before the surgery. For more information and how to book click here.
