Singapore-London Data Exchange

Get involved in Digital Catapult’s new Data City: Data Nation project

The Digital Catapult is looking for data scientists, startups and SMEs that form part of the global data, development and innovation community to work on its Data City: Data Nation project

Background

Data City: Data Nation is the first global data sharing initiative of its kind. It will provide managed access to billions of public (the GLA and London Datastore are partners, as are the IDA in Singapore) and private sector data points.

This first of its kind data sandbox will be open to the global data, development and innovation community from February 2016 and will be framed around monthly, industry-set challenges linked to urban development themes.

Transport and mobility theme

Transport and mobility will be the first monthly theme for the Data City: Data Nation project.

The global data and development community can start to tackle the questions below and develop new applications for Singapore and London by combining the sample datasets available in the Data City: Data Nation sandbox.

Has the growth in e-commerce lead to an increase or decrease in carbon emissions and urban traffic?

Does ordering online mean people forego shopping trips and spend less time out and about?

As e-commerce and delivery volumes grow, will we see greater delivery density and efficiency from existing players or an explosion of new players putting more trucks on the roads?

Dates and times

The Mobility and Transport Challenge will run from 18 February – 20 March. During this period the data sandbox will be opened to the data innovation community, who will seek new insight and solutions to a framed mobility and transport challenge.

The winning solution will be announced at an awards ceremony.

What’s in it for me

– The opportunity to part of the first global data sharing initiative of its kind

– The opportunity to present an innovative solution to a business-critical challenge set by a sponsoring corporate

– There will be a prize for most innovative solutions provided to each challenge set

– The Digital Catapult will provide mentoring and ideation support after each challenge ends.

Please go to the Digital Catapult’s website for more information about registering your interest and to submit an application.

The closing date for this application is 11th March 2016.
