Job Opportunity: Impact Manager Creative and Cultural Sectors at Royal Holloway University of London – Closing Soon

Royal Holloway is one of the UK’s leading research-intensive universities. We are keen to pursue opportunities for our excellent research to create impact – to bring about positive changes in society and the economy.

Brilliant research does not just automatically generate great impact. Pursuing impact opportunities based on “conventional” impact mechanisms and channels (e.g. for some science research, file patent and seek commercial licensee), whilst still not easy are at least conceptually straightforward. However, not all research fits neatly into conventional impact mechanisms and channels.

So, we have created two new Impact Manager posts.

These posts will provide guidance and practical support to help our researchers identify, communicate, pursue and maximise the potential transformative effects of their research within two non-academic domains: the arts and creative cultural sectors and the government, social and corporate sectors.

The opportunity portfolio of the Impact Managers will be determined by their contacts, knowledge and networking expertise in their respective sectors rather than the academic discipline of the research. Each of the Impact Managers could find themselves working within their respective sectors on projects based on science, arts, humanities or social science research – or interdisciplinary research involving a number of disciplines.

Promoting effective two-way contacts between our researchers and leading non-academic organisations and practitioners, will also help stimulate further opportunities for innovative research and impact based partnerships.

If you can demonstrate a track record of achieving planned results through identifying, contacting and developing effective relationships with decision makers and opinion formers in one of these sectors, we can offer a stimulating and rewarding new challenge, working with some of the UK’s best researchers, to make real changes happen.

These posts are full time and permanent, immediately available. This post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
