Designersblock and The Culture Capital Exchange come together to present Creative Matters

Designersblock 2016

15 – 25 September
Oxo Tower Wharf, Bargehouse Street, London SE1

This year exhibitions, events and activities will run for the duration of the London Design Festival and take place as part of the Bankside Design District.

Week 1. 15-18 September – Creative Matters: A New Forum for Creative Futures

Creative Matters is a 4 day program for creatives, institutions and businesses collaborating to anticipate, shape and stimulate future economies. It will be a curated program of Talks, Workshops, Master classes, Round table discussions and Networking Events taking place in and around Bargehouse.

This is an opportunity to present, exchange knowledge and experience; and to connect and network in and around the following themes:

01. Strategies for cities, creative quarters, regeneration, urban innovation. Designing conditions where creativity flourishes.
02. Understanding the micro business and service design. How does business and government incorporate design thinking?
03. Developing your successful creative practice. Tools, strategies and tips for innovation and entrepreneurship.
04. Activities, workshops for young creatives.

Led by Designersblock, Creative Matters partners at this stage include: The Culture Capital Exchange (TCCE), The Royal Netherlands Embassy and Design Manchester.

Week 2. 21-25 September – Exhibition

A showcase of 100 Independent Designers and companies presenting their work and ideas over the four floors of Bargehouse, surrounding areas and Galleries.

Calls for Expressions of Interest – Creative Matters

Designersblock and TCCE welcome members of the Creativeworks London community and network with an interest in Creative Matters: A New Forum for Creative Futures to get in touch.

We would envisage that contributions might take the following forms: curating or producing a panel discussion, talk, workshop or installation. We would also be delighted to hear from people who might simply like to contribute to a panel discussion. We are happy to receive proposals from universities, individual researchers and/or from creative organisations or practitioners or others with a vested interested in the issues raised. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

If you would like to be involved, please submit a short Expression of Interest including your contact details and a short outline of how you would like to be involved or what you would like to do by 5pm on 10th June to piers@designersblock.org.uk and evelyn@tcce.co.uk. We will notify potential contributors by 16th June.
