BeatWoven and Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2 – A creative JourneyBeatWoven was commissioned by The Southbank Centre to translate the theme music from David Lean’s film The Brief Encounter 1945, Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No.2, into a BeatWoven art installation. The film was screened with live music at The Royal Festival Hall as part of The Festival of Love (28 June- 31 August), in celebration of the passing of the British gay marriage act. The art piece will hang permanantly in the members bar in The Royal Festival hall, with a small limited edition capsule collection of woven products available to buy in The Southbank Terrace Gift shop. A collection of large and small cushions, with large and small silk scarves, all designed and woven in England by BeatWoven. There will also be smaller art pieces to purchase which are a replica of the commissioned Rachmaninov art piece. The idea was that BeatWoven bridges together the variety of artist elements. Music, film, performance, art and craft are all brought together which will be available for purchase and become part of their living spaces. Available now. The Southbank Shop Beatwoven was awarded a Creativeworks London Creative Voucher award during round four.
