ASSET: Archive Sector Enterprise Training (ASSET) Project

The aim of the ASSET project is to provide archive sector professionals with skills necessary to contribute to achieving the BFI Film Forever strategic priority ‘Unlocking the UK’s Film Heritage’.

The objectives of the course are:-

• To strengthen business skills within the archive sector, particularly those necessary for monetising digital content.
• To provide improved skills in digital asset management.

Course participants will have become better able to contribute towards wider access to the UK’s archive content and appreciate its value and potential. Businesses in which course participants work will be more resilient and able to grow through identifying and exploiting opportunities existing in digital archives.

Course participants will gain:-

• business skills specifically applicable to the archive sector
• an in-depth knowledge of current digital asset management techniques
• an appreciation of commercial opportunities existing around the digitisation of archives
• expertise on the monetisation of digital content

Modules

The course will consist of a number of two-day taught modules delivered by recognised experts in the field, between October 2015 and March 2016. Indicative module titles are as follows:-

• Digital Asset Management
• Business skills applicable to the Archive Sector
• Intellectual Property Rights for Moving Image Archives
• Monetising Digital Content
• The Transition to Digital Media
• Employability Skills for a Career in the Archive Sector
