Artist Sigune Hamann continues CWL Creative Entrepreneur residency in Japan

Artist Sigune Hamann, Creative Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the V&A, has received a grant from the Great Sasakawa Foundation to go back to Japan in spring 2016 to continue her research from the Creativeworks London residency.

Sigune and curator Gill Hedley plan to meet with museums curators in Tokyo and Kyoto to discuss an exhibition of panoramic film-strips relating to Japanese scrolls following Hamann’s residency at the V&A.

The joint week visit to Japan is building on long cultural interests and links of the artist Sigune Hamann and the curator Gill Hedley with Japan. They plan an intensive exchange with professionals in Tokyo and Kyoto towards facilitating an installation of panoramic film-strips in a museum or gallery with specialisation in panoramic scrolls and to encourage exchange and debate about reading panoramic images and the experience of gallery audiences generally across cultures and eras.
